Sag Takes on 6Social Project

On Thursday (December 13th), John Scully from 6Social facilitated a great day of collaborative learning at Sag.

During the day, students and staff worked on:

1) Developing collaboration skills
2) Identifying the biggest challenge we face as a school currently

1. Developing collaboration skills:

The day was filled with several team building activities that were fun, challenging, and very engaging for our students. The goal of the activities was to develop the essential 'six c's' of 6social.

Students were able to put the 6social theory of effective communication, critical thinking, creativity & imagination, citizenship, character education, and collaboration to practice.

After each team building activity, staff and students were able to reflect on aspects of the 'six c's' that went well and share feedback on how to improve next time. Students were taught about how these 'six c's' can translated to other aspects of their life.

Here is a link to a clip of how two students displayed excellent collaborative skills when given the task of making a paper airplane with one hand.

2. Identifying the biggest challenge we face as a school:

Early in the day, students were given the opportunity to share in small groups what aspects of Sagonaska they were passionate about, as well as the major challenges they face at Sag.
John facilitated a discussion in which all students and staff took part in identifying the biggest challenge.

We look forward to John rejoining us in the new year, as we embrace the opportunity to collaborate and find solutions to our biggest challenge at Sag. Just like every student at Sag works on their learning disability to become better learners, we as a school are excited to confront our current challenge so we can continue to grow stronger.
